Project Mic is the brainchild of the Corporate Eccentric, Joel Nomdarkham; who with his team of marketers and creatives birthed AMPLIFY.
AMPLIFY is an initiative that seeks to motivate and educate future marketers on industry best practices, and to improve the quality of our digital community and consumer behaviour.
The Story
Joel approached me about this project in the first half of June 2022. At this point the project idea had been on his heart for some years. He had the concept, he had the name and he knew the impact he wanted it to make; but what he needed from me was to direct what his passion project, that was years in the making, would look like. So naturally I was excited to say yes and get the ball rolling.
We started by trading ideas and references for about a week, from all sorts of content pieces: documentaries, YouTube videos, audio tracks, graphic elements, fonts, the whole works. I’d say we had a pretty robust mood board laid out before I even started designing or editing anything; which I believe is always the best approach to ensure that the creative and the client are aligned, needless to say Joel was a great client to collaborate with.
I was tasked with creating the brand logo and logo variations, along with collating and editing the footage captured to produce the first piece of content for this new initiative, AMPLIFY.
The Result
AMPLIFY premiered on the SAGE Network, by Sagicor, on World Social Media Day, June 30, 2022. It’s a mini-documentary, spanning about 12 mins in total, featuring social luminaries such as: Jason Brown, Naomi Garrick, Simon Johnson, Dianne Ashton-Smith & others. They speak on impact in the social space and give direction on how you can leverage online communities to impact social change. It really is an informative, concise experience and one that I can’t fully explain in these few sentences. So check it out, take notes, leave a comment (or two) and if you learned anything at all share it with a friend or colleague.
